On Netflix Now: We’re Watching ‘Definitely, Maybe’
Definitely, Maybe is a 2008 comedy romance about a political consultant who tries to explain his past to his 11-year-old daughter.
By now, when you think of Ryan Reynolds, your mind probably zips right to action and superhero movies, the actor becoming one of today’s most successful box office sure things. However, the talented and funny actor has quite a few rom-coms to his name as well and one of the best is this breezy yet charming movie where he plays a good dad, trying to explain to his young daughter Maya (Abigail Breslin) about why he and her mom are getting divorced while reflecting on three important women in his past. It’s a surprisingly sweet and honest little film with Isla Fisher, Rachel Weisz, and Elizabeth Banks and a nice little turn from veteran Kevin Kline. Go ahead and let this simple little romance do its thing.
THE LAST WORD
Charming story is packed full of good performances and carried by Reynold’s genuinely sincere take, making this a fun guilty pleasure movie that absolutely satisfied.
A little too on the nose at times, it might not be all that unpredictable and might leave you (sweetly) rolling your eyes.
