Bollywood Remake of Oculus in the Works: ‘Dobaara’ Poster Revealed

Director of original remarks on the upcoming remake.

Dobaara: See Your Evil is an up-coming Bollywood remake of the 2013 horror film Oculus about a woman trying to prove her brother’s innocence by claiming supernatural beings exist.

Filmmaker Mike Flanagan of Absentia, Hush, and Ouija (Origin of Evil) today shared some information about his upcoming Bollywood remake, including a new poster that harkens back to his own acclaimed horror film Oculus (2013). The Bollywood remake is titled Dobaara: See Your Evil (Bobaara means ‘Again’ in Hindi) and stars Huma Qureshi, reprising the part played by Karen Gillan in the original. Take a look:

Flanagan wrote on his Official Facebook page: “Here’s the teaser poster for DOBAARA … the Bollywood remake of OCULUS. This makes me so weirdly happy.”

Dobaara was earlier planned for a May 2nd, 2017 release in India, however it was later changed to June 2nd, 2017. The film is directed by Prawaal Raaman who has earlier directed Indian films such as Gayab, 404 Error Not Found, Darling, and Main aur Charles, which was loosely based on serial killer Charles Sobhraj. Flanagan is still credited as the original writer and serves as an executive producer of the Bollywood version.

Flanagan is currently busy with Stephen King‘s adaptation Gerald’s Game, and soon to be announced The Haunting of Hill House. In the meantime, Dobaara not only borrows from the original film’s plot, but it also borrows from the original poster and a bit of the tagline too … See Your Evil. We’ll keep you posted when more details break.
