‘Valley’ Teases Open World High Jumping Action

From the independent gaming studio Blue Isle Entertainment that brought us Slender: The Arrival, their latest project is a game called Valley and is scheduled to be released in Summer 2016. Watch the teaser and read on for more.

Valley is a first-person adventure game located in a remote region of the majestic Rocky Mountains, and where you discover the beautiful but mysterious ‘Valley’. Using the L.E.A.F suit, a newly-discovered technology, you explore the many adventures the Valley has to offer, of which not all are friendly. What is a L.E.A.F. suit you ask? It’s short for Leaping Effortlessly through Air Functionality. Now that’s a pretty clever and straight-forward name, right? Need more? The developers describe it as:

“A fierce exoskeleton that grants exceptional speed and agility along with the phenomenal ability to manipulate the life and death of all living things”

Or just look at this picture:

It makes the player move incredibly fast but more importantly, as they say, it possesses the ability to control life and death, able to give it back or take it away. That’s power. But it doesn’t mean this is an invincible character while in the L.E.A.F. suit. One of the more interesting features of the game is that the more your character dies, the more the environment around him will follow suit, if you’ll pardon the pun. You die. It dies. This is where the real consequences of the suit come into play and requires a bit of strategy. There are secrets hiding in the Valley. To survive, you must find them all.

Valley

This is where Valley gives a chance to let you explore. It has many varied environments from ancient ruins to dark forests and many of them allow you to upgrade and improve the performance of the L.E.A.F. suit. But you aren’t alone. You’ll encounter lots of different wildlife–some charming, some not so much–and face off against some seriously dangerous enemies. With that said, the visuals and set designs from the trailer and these screenshots are stunning to be sure.

While the information currently available is limited to Steam and the trailer, the little bit of dialogue in the clip hints to an important message about the environment wrapped up in a different technological world that pulls together a compelling story to uncover. It certainly is intriguing and there’s no denying a lot of familiar gaming tropes and callbacks to other big titles are present. There’s a clear Fallout vibe right from the start, and the use of a grapple-like tool is a popular gaming device. That said, there’s hardly a game out there, especially the big ticket franchises, that aren’t ‘borrowing’ from each already. Valley looks to be employing many from other games but also introducing much more. Color us curious.

There is no exact date set for release for Valley. However, it is set to be available on Steam, Playstation 4 and Xbox One sometime this summer.
