Breakdown of the Ubisoft E3 2019 Conference: Trailers & More

For Honor: Shadows of the Hitokiri

Opening to the stirring strains of the Assassin’s Creed Symphony, we’re reminded of the expansive history that these games have had, giving the conference a more gentle start than the previous years’ Just Dance dance party introductions. For fans of this opening, the Symphony will be going on tour complete with video screens showcasing footage from the games in a Video Games Live style experience.

This laid back opening really set the tone for the conference as a whole which was a surprisingly timid affair, especially compared to the party atmosphere of previous years. This of course wouldn’t have mattered as much had we been treated to a stronger showcase but in a rare stumble for Ubisoft this was one of the few conferences that didn’t leave us with a handful of titles we were super excited to get our hands on. And again, with no sign of Beyond Good and Evil 2, the overall event just felt it was lacking something.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Watch Dogs comes to London in this latest installment of the series as Dedsec takes on the totalitarian government has turned the city into a high security state complete with drones, check points and militarised police. What’s more exciting will be the ability to switch between team members rather than playing the lone hero. The demo showcasing a range of these recruits including a tech savvy granny with a spider drone all which will come with their own skills and provide different challenges for the player. While it might be an alpha build, there is a lot of promise to the game with the prospect of being able to recruit any NPC to your cause is certainly exciting, while the game plays perfectly into the current climate of the UK.

Mythic Quest

Creator of Always Sunny In Philadelphia Rob McElhenney introduces his new series for Apple TV and made with the help of Ubisoft based around a team of dev’s working on the RPG Mythic Quest. While it looks like it won’t be as offensive as Always Sunny, it’s at least doing enough to not just been seen as a Silicon Valley clone.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

Following on from Ghost Recon: Wildlands, the game switches the focus this time from criminals and rogue governments to a group of rogue Ghosts who have rebranded themselves the Wolves, creating a more level playing field than seen before. Players will be once more be able to team up with three other players or play solo with AI teammates. Beta will be live Sept. 5th and you can now register at Ghostrecon.com

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad

It seems that all franchises are moving onto mobile platform in one form or another. Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad is the newest upcoming addition which is mobile based RPG which brings together memorable characters from the Tom Clancy’s back catalogue of games including The Division, Ghost Recon and most excitingly Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell.

Just Dance 2020

Of course, it wouldn’t be the Ubisoft conference without the yearly dance party and certainly with the series celebrating 10 years, it didn’t disappoint despite scaling things back from last year … although we did still get the dancing panda.

For Honor: Shadows of the Hitokiri

For Honor has been releasing consistent updates since its release. Its newest update, Shadows of the Hitokori will be a limited event which will bring in Japanese ghost mythology and new game modes, but for a limited event it certainly got a much larger push than was expected.

Rainbow Six: Quarantine

The newest chapter in the hugely popular first person shooter series will see you facing off against a virus outbreak though at this point no real details are being given out over what we can expect. Enjoy the teaser trailer.

The Division 2

Celebrating the game’s first year the latest DLC will move out of the capital with episode 1 focused on attacking a Presidential compound and the surrounding woodlands, with screenshots of the Zoo amongst the location shots we saw. In the meantime, The Division 2 will be free to play from June 13th to 16th. Check out our thoughts of the first look of The Division 2 HERE.

Uplay+

Ubisoft throws their hat into the streaming market which for US$14.99 a month will offer access to both their classic and new games. The service will also be available from 2020 on Stadia but will it be able to compete in an already saturated market place.

Roller Champions

Mixing Roller Derby with Rollerball in this colourful PVP future sports game which Ubisoft are clearly banking on being the next Rocket League and with demo available to play until June 4th on Uplay, it will be interesting to see how it plays.

Gods and Monsters

From the team behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, this certainly looks like a change of pace with its more cartoonish design, but for such a short kind of nothing trailer it felt like an odd end to the conference.
