Here’s What’s Coming To Theaters in February: Trailers & More

Miss Bala

Feb 1

After movies like Deepwater Horizon and Annihilation, it would appear that Gina Rodriguez is doing her best to not be typecast by Jane the Virgin. With her latest film, Miss Bala, it adds more proof to the pudding. Here Rodriguez stars as a Gloria, a girl that is forced into the world of cross-border drug crime and comes across a strength for survival she never knew she had. Miss Bala looks to pack the action, and features a corrupt Anthony Mackie.

Cold Pursuit

Feb 8

Liam Neeson returns to the big screen in another revenge thriller, this time as a snow plow driver seeking out the drug dealers he thinks killed his son. This is a remake of the 2014 Swedish film In Order of Disappearance, so hopefully bringing back the original director, Hans Petter Moland, will channel success. Joining Neeson will be Emmy Rossum and Laura Dern.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

Feb 8

Following the overwhelming success of the first installment, everyone’s favorite Legos are back and under attack by the LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space. It’ll be up to Emmet (Chris Pratt) again to save the day, as he leads an extraordinary voice cast including the likes of Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Tiffany Haddish, Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and more.

The Prodigy

Feb 8

It’s looking like the horror trend of 2019 might be creepy children, with films like Pet Sematary and Brightburn coming out later this year. Kicking off the trend in February will be The Prodigy, about a gifted young boy that begins showing signs of being influenced by unnatural forces. Although it features a relatively unknown cast, this one looks like it will promise a serious jump or two at the very least, and maybe make you think twice about babysitting your little nephews.

What Men Want

Feb 8

Roles are reversed this time around as Tiffany Haddish stars as a female sports agent that gains the ability to hear men’s thoughts. Based on the trailers there may wind up being a few cheap laughs sprinkled throughout this RomCom, but certainly don’t go into this one expecting anything in the form of substance.

Happy Death Day 2U

Feb 13

After the surprising success of the original, the killer in the baby-faced mask is back for more in Happy Death Day 2U. Honestly, there isn’t much to say about this one; if you go to it you know what you’re getting yourself into. If you’re looking to hit the theater for Valentine’s Day and want to avoid a droll, cheesy love story, this goofy slasher flick might be the one for you.

Isn’t It Romantic

Feb 13

Rebel Wilson stars in this RomCom that entirely makes fun of RomComs. After suffering a head injury, Wilson’s character, Natalie, gets stuck living out her day to day life inside the realm of a romantic comedy. Because this one features a fun cast including Liam Hemsworth, Priyanka Chopra and Adam Devine, it should be good for a laugh or two and will most likely capitalize on plenty of Valentine’s Day date nights.

Alita: Battle Angel

Feb 14

The mastermind behind Sin City, Robert Rodriguez, is at the helm of this science fiction flick about a girl who is part machine part girl and comes to discover she has an extraordinary past. The film takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, and looks to have plenty of unique action sequences peppered in. Rosa Salazar stars as Alita, and is joined by Christoph Waltz, Mahershala Ali, Eiza Gonzalez, Ed Skrein and more.

Fighting with My Family

Feb 14

Here we have the amazing true story behind WWE diva Paige (Florence Pugh), and her rise to stardom. This quirky comedy/drama features actor Stephen Merchant stepping into the director’s chair, leading a cast that also includes Lena Headey, Dwayne Johnson, Vince Vaughn and Nick Frost.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

Feb 22

The Viking Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and his trusty dragon Toothless are back and out to find ‘The Hidden World,’ a secret Dragon Utopia, before the evil tyrant Grimmel (F. Murray Abraham). The first two movies in this series have been critical hits and worldwide successes, so expect nothing different here. Joining Baruchel will be a huge voice cast including Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, Kit Harington, Kristen Wiig and more.
