First Mind-Bending Trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s Much-Anticipated ‘Glass’

Glass is a 2019 thriller about three men who believe they have superhero powers, each from a different M. Night Shyamalan movie.

In 2016 M. Night Shyamalan added a VERY surprising twist to the end of Split when he showed David Dunn (Bruce Willis) from Unbreakable watching a report about The Beast (James McAvoy) on the news. We now have our first official trailer for Shyamalan’s upcoming film, Glass, that brings together the characters from Unbreakable and Split in a full length feature this time. It looks like what we’ll be getting here is a battle between superheroes and villains, as Dunn faces off against Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) and the The Beast. Here are a few takeaways from the trailer:

  • Sarah Paulson is joining the cast as Dr. Ellie Staple, a psychiatrist who specializes in those who believe they are superheroes
  • Glass, Kevin Wendell (McAvoy) and Dunn are all patients in the same psychiatric hospital
  • Glass wants the world to see that their kind (superheroes/villains) exist
  • It looks like Glass and The Beast might be teaming up, or Glass just wants to unleash The Beast
  • It will be up to David Dunn to stop them
  • Casey Cooke (Anya Taylor-Joy) from Split is returning as well

We now have the worlds of M. Night Shyamalan coming together like a smaller and darker version of The Avengers. This move is probably one that caught most people off guard, but man does this trailer show some potential. The epic face off that we’ll be getting between Dunn and The Beast looks like it’s going to be awesome. What’s makes the approach that Shyamalan takes with his super characters so unique is that they have such a real life feel to them. David Dunn is a blue collar guy with marital problems, he’s a very relatable character. From Glass and The Beast we get a terrorist and a psychopath, both of which are insane murderers. While that is all pretty dark, it’s also a part of modern society and things that we see all too often on the news. Glass is a fresh take on the superhero phenomenon, and the way things are shaping up looks promising.
