Carmen Sandiego is a 2019 animated series on Netflix about the adventures of Carmen Sandiego, a globe-hopping master thief.
Since the 1980s, the uncatchable Carmen Sandiego has been teaching kids (and adults) all about the world we live in and where stuff actually is. The notoriously hip and elusive thief has been hunted by the ACME Detective Agency (namely us, the player) for decades, forcing us to keep geographical clues in tracking her and her henchmen down. There’s not a one of us who doesn’t know the phrase, “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?”
Well, it turns out, she’s now on Netflix. The streaming service just dropped its first trailer for the 22-episode season, showcasing its colorful animation style and general plot, which gives Carmen a new twist, that of a ‘good’ thief, who only steals from other thieves. It’s not exactly fresh, as she’s always been a good sport of sorts, usually committing her crimes for the fun of it. However, turning her into a kind of Robin Hood type might surely leave some questioning the choice.
Either way, It’s good to see Carmen back, even if it’s not a game we can play. She’s been on TV before, all through the 90s in various forms, but it’s been her long-running computer and console games that made her so beloved. it all begins January 18, 2019.
