Our Wishlist and Predictions for E3 2018

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, commonly referred to as E3, is a premier trade event for the video game industry.

E3 2018 is fast approaching, the event kicking off with developer conferences June 8th to June 11th with the convention floor officially opening June 12th to 14th. Suffice to say that this is the gaming high season with lots of rumors and anticipation and hopefully surprises in the horizon.

That said, we couldn’t let the chance to share our own speculations of what might be coming, so here are our predictions of what we would love to see unveiled at this year’s E3.

Death Stranding Gameplay

Honestly we probably have more chance of juggling soot than seeing this happen, more so when Hideo Kojima is clearly having too much fun adding layers of confusion to what the game is actually about especially with both the highly cinematic trailers hardly giving anything away. That being said Sony could just a centrepiece for their conference and this would certainly provide it unless they choose to reserve it for their own conference but with rumours abound that Kojima has a working alpha of the game E3 could possibly be the first time we see gameplay from this much anticipated title.

Lollipop Chainsaw 2

James Gunn might currently generate a lot of buzz amongst the Marvel fans, especially after having directed both Guardians of the Galaxy movies and arguably giving Marvel their most exciting entries in their cine-universe despite being based on a little known property for all but the most ardent comic book fans. Still considering how The Belko Experiment was picked up on the strength of his name being attached as a writer, what’s to say that the same can’t be done for this cult Hack N’ Slash which proved to be surprisingly more deep and enjoyable than it might have seemed.

Needless to say the character of the chainsaw wielding zombie slaying cheerleader Juliet is such a fun creation its a shame to think we only got to join her for one truly random outing with no doubt many fans of the first game keen to go on another psychodelic rampage with this colourful heroine.

Scalebound Revived

Another long shot and while this might just be us hanging onto a small glimmer of hope that this axed project could be resurrected especially when it was showcased to much excitement at the 2016 Xbox conference only to be axed soon after.

Since then we have seen Microsoft renew their copyright on the sly and while insiders still state that its axed, its still too much of an interesting project to believe that it’s actually dead and not just being reworked.

Left 4 Dead 3

While the Zombie genre might be more than a little overworked there is certainly still an audience for anything you can nail a shambling corpse onto and unquestionably the Left 4 Dead games have still maintained a strong following despite being released back in 2009. However developer Valve seemingly having an issue with the number 3 as we could certainly be using this pick to ask were Portal 3 and Half Life 3 are.

Valve have seemingly been dropping hints first with the Left 4 Dead 2 facebook page showing a picture of a zombie hand with three fingers while looking at the patch notes for CS: GO there was a line about “Ashtray for Smokers” which fans took as a hint of a third game but as yet nothing concrete has been confirmed.

Panzer Dragoon Remake

Certainly the last few years we have seen a number of classic titles being remastered for the latest generation of consoles in particular Crash Bandicoot Trilogy and Wipeout and with Medieval on the horizon there is clearly a demand for these games

The rumours for this started back in February when Sega posted pictures from their visit to Microsoft on their Japanese twitter account back in February and while the likelihood that this is linked to Vanquish 2 something only seemingly furthered confirmed with Microsoft giving the original game away as part of their games with gold. Still with the original Sega Saturn disc still selling at a premium price it would be great to get a remastered version of the game at a sensible price.

Life is Strange 2 Gameplay/ Release Date

One year ago, Dontnod Entertainment announced that Life is Strange 2 is currently in development. With Square Enix joining into the E3 conference line-up, its hard to not think about what will show up more so when Life is Strange is published by Square Enix.

Of course as fans of Life is Strange and the fictional world of Arcadia Bay, it is hard to not want to jump back into the world whether or not its with the same cast and city or something completely new. With that being said, we are hoping and predicting that Life is Strange 2 will have some new gameplay, story direction and release date. Any news would be great. The silence is making the wait even harder.

New Bethesda IP

Bethesda recently teased and then followed up with their launch of the awesome trailer of Rage 2 however this is still a third party title developed by Avalanche Studios, the developers behind Mad Max and Just Cause, which recently opened their studio in Sweden. However in our opinion it’s been too long since Bethesda has launched their own IP. The last few years has been full of sequels and endless Elder Scrolls ports and re-releases and further porting of Fallout 4 and Doom and of course, the focus on Bethesda VR.

There has been rumors of a new IP called Starfield in the works and yet nothing has been announced. Pete Hines, Bethesda’s Vice President of Global Marketing has teased on his own Twitter that they have a lot to show and could be their longest showcase yet. With that said, a new IP sounds very likely to happen.

Mortal Kombat 11 Announcement

With the recent influx of fighting games in the last few years it might come as some suprise that it has been three years since the release of Mortal Kombat X which of course make us question whether Mortal Kombat 11 is going to be announced soon.

Rumors have it that it may be a high possibility. Mortal Kombat X was a massive success and it sure seems like the perfect time to remind everyone to get back into the Mortal Kombat universe for some more brutal fight moments, while at the same time anticipation is high over which horror icon will be making a guest appearance this time round or even more exciting perhaps would be to bring them all back so we can finally play out our horror fantasies deathmatches.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Gameplay/Release Date

Final Fantasy 7’s remake has been teased year after year with little to show however recently, Square Enix has talked about sharing some more about this remake.

Final Fantasy 7 certainly has a special place in the hearts of many Final Fantasy fans and the remake screenshots definitely show a lot of promise. However with it being in development for so long and this E3 for the first time featuring a Square Enix conference fingers are crossed that they will show us not only gameplay but maybe also a release date.

Jax and Daxter

Ratchet and Clank recently got a PS4 remaster so needless to say the rumour mill has many predicting that Jax and Dexter could be heading out on a new outing and certainly with the popularity for retro titles certainly at a high currently it would certainly seem like the right time to revive the series and perhaps distract us from the fact we are still holding out for Streets of Rage 4.

So there you have our wishlist, but what would you like to see at E3? Have your say in the comments section below.
