‘The Witch’ Trailer 2 Will Have You Sleeping With the Lights On (Indefinitely)
About a year ago at the Sundance Film Festival, The Witch gave Robert Eggers the Jury Prize for directing and everyone else the heebie-jeebies. Now it’s coming to a theater near you. Probably want to make sure all the lights in your house are working before you go.

We talked about the first trailer in our Sneak Peek post here. The gothic tale about a 17th century Puritan family leaving town and making a go off it on the edge of the woods focuses on their belief that their daughter is somehow in cahoots with the devil. Hailed as visionary and disturbing, the film stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Ineson (of Game of Thrones).
This second trailer reveals a bit more about the evolution of that belief in the devil, and the clearly innocent Thomasin (Taylor-Joy) trying to understand what is happening to her family as things degenerate to madness. Eggeers’ unique direction is obvious and the use of animals is stirring and genuinely unsettling. It has us breathless with anticipation.
The Witch opens in wide release in February.
