New ‘Venom’ Official Trailer: Spider-Man Spinoff With Tom Hardy

Venom is an upcoming super villain story about the origins of one of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies.

Well, I don’t know about everyone else, but I was PUMPED to get a glimpse of the Symbiote in the latest Venom trailer. We got a much better look at the feel of the movie today, and I for one think that we are all in for a real treat.

Journalist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is brought in by an employee of the Life Foundation to expose its head, Dr Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), for testing “Symbiotes” on human subjects. While investigating, Brock is infected by the Symbiote strain, and starts to hear an evil voice in his head as he gains nonhuman powers. Brock struggles to control the Symbiote inside him, while he is also tracked down by Drake and the Life Foundation. Will Brock be able to contain the monster, or will it overtake him and roam free?

The whole trailer is awesome, but the ending really got me excited. Amidst the rumors of the Symbiote not being in the movie, I would say this is exactly what movie fans needed. There aren’t many actors in Hollywood who get more embedded in their roles than Tom Hardy, so I think it’s safe to say he’ll knock this one out of the park. Admittedly, I was a little concerned that Ahmed wouldn’t be able to hold his own, but then I remembered how menacing and dark his character turned in HBO’s, The Night Of. So, I’m interested to see his approach to Drake. The one looming concern I have is that there won’t be enough hand-to-hand combat (which Hardy does so well), and that some of the Symbiote action sequences may be cheesy. Other than that, there isn’t much to pick apart here. We should have a sure fire hit on our hands!
