Welcome the Stranger is a 2018 mystery about a girl who arrives unannounced at her estranged brother house in an attempt to reconcile, but strange events force the siblings to cling onto reality amidst mysterious circumstances.
Starring Caleb Landry Jones, Riley Keough and Abbey Lee, the thriller Welcome the Stranger is set to be released on March 20th. From the trailer, it’s clear that not everything is going to be as it seems in this dark family drama centering around a brother and sister trying to reconcile. Their are obviously some secrets surrounding their past which will come to light during the film. When it’s discovered that the brother’s girlfriend is at the house with him, his sister doesn’t take it too well and things take a turn for the worse. Thankfully, unlike a lot of trailers as of late, this one doesn’t give too much of the plot away, focusing on building the atmosphere of paranoia and suspicion instead. We know that there is going to be conflict between the two women in this film but we don’t know why which creates tension and intrigue. That being said, it’s obvious that this movie is also going to play with the ideas of reality and there will likely be a lot of creative edits and experimentation with film form and language. Hopefully the plot won’t get lost in the artistic vision.
