5 Netflixs Picks is our weekly list of random movies we recommend you move to the top of your queue, from romance to horror and everything in-between.

We’ve got a zesty adult comedy on the list, a funny family choice, a compelling documentary, some for sci-fi fans and of course, a little something to scratch that Christmas itch. So take a break from all that shopping and get comfy in front of Netflix and give these titles a watch, starting with one from Seth Rogen

MONDAY: Zack And Miri Make a Porno

Ten years ago, Seth Rogen was everywhere, smack in the middle of a sensational movie run that saw hit after hit keep him on top of the comedy hit list. Here, he stars in Kevin Smith‘s surprisingly funny feature alongside side Elizabeth Banks, a fearless actress who has textbook Hollywood good looks with razor sharp comedic timing. They play the titular Zack and Miri, best friends who come up with a unique plan to raise some cash, make a porno film. Thing is, the once platonic pals discover that maybe there’s something else lurking under all this on-screen sex that means more than they think. Genuinely charming and not at all as gratuitous as it could be, this is a perfect starter for the week.

TUESDAY: 101 Dalmatians

Disney’s original animated classic gets a remake in this live-action family film starring Jeff Daniels and Joely Richardson as a young couple who are recently married with Dalmation dogs that have a litter of adorable puppies, which catches the eye of the contemptuous Cruella DeVil (Glenn Close). She wants to turn them and more into a luxurious coat and hatches a plan to kidnap them all. Memorable for Close’s delightfully campy take on the famous Disney villain, this is terrific family fun the kids will find highly entertaining with its physical comedy and ‘aww’-inducing little pups. Okay, you will, too.

WEDNESDAY: Remastered: Who Killed Jam Master jay?

The turbulent history of rap and hip-hop is littered with violence and death, but the loss of Run-DMC‘s DJ Jam Master Jay was a tough one to take for many who grew up with the music of this hugely-popular group. This original Netflix special explores the history of the three-man group and their rise to mega stardom, tracking the DJ’s own success as well, leading to the fateful night of his unsolved murder in 2002. You don’t need to be a fan of the music or the industry to get sucked into this compelling drama that suggests a whole host of problems in the investigation. Must see.

THURSDAY: Infinity Chamber

Let’s get a little sci-fi mystery in the mix with this small but riveting bit of a brain bender from director Travis Milloy. It stars Christopher Soren Kelly as a man who wakes in a futuristic chamber with a ceiling mounted robot as his only company. But why? Is he a prisoner? Questions mount but they are only made worse when a machine in the back of the room seems to send him back in time for short bits to relive the last day he remembers. Tricky and clever, this is a conversationally-driven gem with several solid surprises up its sleeve that should satisfy sci-fi and mystery fans alike.

FRIDAY: White Christmas

You’ve sung the songs and heard about the movie, but how many of you have actually seen this classic 1954 holiday special? That’s what we thought. Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye are soldiers in World War II Europe, who find themselves in battle, one saving the other. In returning the favor, they agree to meet up after the war and sing together in New York City, soon meeting singing and dancing sisters (Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen). Then the real adventure begins in this holiday tradition that is full of warm charms and tons of cheerful songs. You keep saying one day you’re going to watch this but always put it off. This is the year. Do it. You won’t regret it.
