‘The Dark Tower’ (2017): New Trailer – Magnum Opus

New look at the upcoming feature length film based on the Stephen King books.

The Dark Tower is a 2017 sci-fi/action/drama about a gunslinger who roams an Old West-like landscape where “the world has moved on” in pursuit of the man in black.

From Sony Pictures and based on the Stephen King novels of the same name, The Dark Tower is intended to be the first in a series of films and television shows that follows and continues the books. The story centers on Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor), an 11-year-old boy who discovers another dimension to a place called Mid-World, where he encounters Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), known as Gunslinger. He is on a quest to reach the fabled Dark Tower that exists in End-World, which holds the key to time and space and will prevent all of existence from ending in Hell. But first he has to beat The Man In Black (Matthew McConaughey), a powerful sorcerer who is on the same quest for much different reasons.

The above trailer features some interviews with the cast and a brief talk with King himself, discussing how the project has long been the popular author’s ‘magnum opus’. The movie is directed by Nikolaj Arcel and produced by Ron Howard, who at one point in the film’s near ten-year development, was set to helm. Putting a lot of emphasis on the visuals, action, and style, it looks to have great potential for fans of the series and new-combers alike.

The Dark Tower is scheduled for release on August 2, 2017.
