Star Wars: Episode IX is an upcoming sci-fi action film planned to be the conclusion of the current trilogy.
Some very good news coming for a galaxy far, far away, Variety is reporting that longtime film and television star Keri Russell is cast in J.J. Abrams‘ final chapter in the Star Wars latest series, which is cause for a little celebration. Russell has consistently proven herself capable of not only high drama but also bone crushing action, which surely will play into her unnamed part in the film.
Russell worked with Abrams before in Mission: Impossible III (2006), which still stand as one of our favorites, her opening moments with co-star Tom Cruise as a highlight, both physically and emotionally, making her one many hoped that franchise could have given her side-project all her own.
As for Star Wars: Episode IX, there are no details yet concerning the plot, Abrams donning both director and writer hats, but the cast continues to grow, with Russell joining series stalwarts Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, with rumors of Lupita Nyong’o returning as Maz Kanata.
Perhaps most curious is whether Russell will be on the dark side or the light side. Either way, she’s a terrific addition to the universe. Any thoughts?
