‘A New High’ Clips: Inspiring Documentary Climbs New Heights

Giving addicts a chance at feeling a new high, a former soldier inspires hope.

A New High is a 2017 documentary about an ex-Army Ranger now running a homeless shelter for addicts in Seattle, giving them a reason to have hope with a radical bit of therapy.

At the Union Gospel Mission in downtown Seattle, a small group of men and women join together in a year-long program that will hopefully take them on a journey away from their suffering of homelessness, addiction, and cycle of failure. Led by former Ranger Mike Johnson, the program hopes to rehabilitate the group by taking them up the side of Mount Rainier, promising them a “new high” along the way.

Learning how to climb the challenging peak, the team sets about training, running up stairs and doing inner city activities to practice the coming odyssey, all while the towering mountain looms in the distance, beckoning them near. Can they all endure? Some will succeed and some will find their fates on a different path in this inspiring documentary.

This latest clips provides a look at the crew learning a little rappelling off a highway overpass and some harsh truths about expectations.
