November In-Theater Movie Guide: Trailers & More

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, 2018 © WARNER BROS. ENTERTAINMENT INC.

Fresh off the heels of an October that re-ignited the box office, November doesn’t look like it’s going to have any trouble keeping pace. For those tracking awards season, you’ll be treated to a few possible contenders including a famous musician’s biopic, a revenge thriller featuring some pissed off widows, and piano in the deep south. If you’re looking for something a little more light-hearted, you’ll be covered with a classic Christmas tale, some dueling wizards, and another Disney sequel. Last but not least, if you’re looking for something higher on action and thrills, you can choose between the most famous tattooed hacker, or the most famous fictional boxer.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Nov 2

Rami Malek stars as Freddie Mercury, the famous singer of Queen, in this biopic that shows how the band got their start, and leads into their legendary performance at the Live Aid concert. Malek and director Bryan Singer might be singing the blues, though, as Rhapsody is already receiving mixed reviews.

Suspiria

Nov 2 (expanded)

Fresh off his awards season run, director Luca Guadagnino returns with this remake about a dancer (Dakota Johnson) who joins a dance studio run by a coven of witches. This one has been driving curiosity for months ever since attendees of CinemaCon got a sneak-peak of a gruesome dance scene that even had some leaving the room.

Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch

Nov 9

The classic cartoon about the Who with a heart a few sizes too small is back on the big screen. Benedict Cumberbatch is voicing the Grinch here, and you can expect a lighthearted and humorous take on this remake.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web: A New Dragon Tattoo Story

Nov 9

Lisbeth Salander returns to the silver screen with Claire Foy donning the ink this time around. The trailers have given preview to some intense scenes along with plenty of action, but in already revealing who the antagonist is, have they shown too much?

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Nov 16

The follow up to the smash hit in 2016 now finds Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) teaming up with Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) to battle Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). Harry Potter fans should be chomping at the bit to not only get another taste of the wizarding world, but to also see how Dumbledore defeated his arch-nemesis.

Widows

Nov 16

This crime-drama seems to be bringing together all the right pieces as it teams a dynamite cast including the likes of Viola Davis, Liam Neeson, Michelle Rodriguez, Colin Farrell, Carrie Coon and Daniel Kaluuya with award winning director, Steve McQueen. The story focuses on a group of widows who must carry out a score that was meant for their recently deceased husbands, and it’s been getting plenty of early Oscar buzz.

Creed II

Nov 21

Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) and Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) reteam as Johnson aims to take down the son (Florian Munteanu) of the man who killed his father, Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). Based on the trailers, this one is going to pack a serious punch as Johnson is in for the fight of life, or possibly even a fight for his life.

Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2

Nov 21

John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman return as Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope, heading inside the internet to find a spare part needed to fix a video game. This should be a fun adventure that brings plenty of classic Disney characters back to life, and has a voice-cast for the ages.

Green Book

Nov 21

Here is another movie gaining some early Oscar buzz, about a New York bouncer (Viggo Mortensen) that takes a job chauffeuring a black pianist (Mahershala Ali) on a concert tour in the deep South in the 60’s. Expect strong performances from both of the leads in this comedy-drama that could very likely be resurfacing in February.
