On Netflix Now: ‘Below Her Mouth’

Below Her Mouth is a 2017 drama about two women who share an unexpected affair that changes them forever.

An honest and physical story about great passion and romance where denying who you are leads to all kinds of emotional hurdles.

If you’re uncomfortable with softcore sex on screen, then avoid this, as there are nearly a dozen scenes of girl on girl intimacy.

Love between same genders have thankfully become more mainstream of late, with women gaining a lot more attention, with controversial titles such as Blue is the Warmest Color making headlines. April Mullen‘s raw love story Below Her Mouth isn’t quite as explicit even if it does feature a lot of sex, but is still a challenging and engaging story with two strong leads. They are Natalie Krill as Jasmine, a young beautiful editor for a Toronto fashion magazine, and Erika Linder as Dallas, a tough as nails construction worker. The two meet and even though Jasmine is planning her wedding to a highly-devoted young man named Rile (Sebastian Pigott), she is recognizing a passion that has long been pushed deep within her. As mentioned, the two get it on often, but the film is mostly a quiet and reflective story that sees these women struggle to make their relationship work. While it’s not a masterpiece, this is nonetheless a well-acted and earnest love story that fans of the genre will certainly enjoy. Read our review.
