On Netflix Now: ‘While We’re Young’

While We’re Young is a 2014 comedy about a middle-aged couple’s career and marriage that are overturned when a disarming young couple enters their lives.

Really funny and often very emotional, this is a small gem that is highly underrated.

If you don’t like your humor born from authenticity, this isn’t going to earn any points on your side.

Nothing like a good spin on a generation gap and Noah Baumbach‘s While We’re Young is definitely one to put your hooks into, with a funny cast and an amusing look at life in general. Starring Ben Stiller as Josh Schrebnick and Naomi Watts as his wife Cornelia, the two are in an unstable relationship, he struggling to complete his latest documentary and she unsure about trying for a baby since it’s been nothing but bad luck before. At the university in New York City where Josh teaches, he meets young couple Jamie (Adam Driver) and Darby Massey (Amanda Seyfried), who invite him and Cornelia to dinner, Josh becoming enamored with the younger couple’s free-spirited lifestyle. Things soon go off the rails of course and all sort of chaos follows, as Josh and Cornelia find themselves up to their necks is the unfamiliar. Baumbach, whose films have always touched on the humorous drama of making it through this crazy ride, gets another solid hit out of this one, with four great performances and some well-earned laughs.
