‘Pandas’ Official Trailer Is Adorable and Breathtaking

Pandas is a 2018 documentary about a researcher in the mountains of Sichuan, China, who forms a bond with Qian Qian, a panda who is about to experience nature for the first time.

Releasing in select Imax Imax 3D theaters on April 6, filmmakers David Douglas and Drew Fellman, who together have brought us a slew of animal shorts and documentaries, now point their cameras at one of the most beloved creatures on the planet, China’s indigenous panda bear. Classified as a threatened species, efforts have long been in the works to not only protect but increase the population. With Pandas, we head to the Chengdu Panda Base in China, where scientists are breeding adult Giant Pandas specifically to be released into the wild. But to do that, these cubs need to be trained, and to do that, their turning to a unique program in New Hampshire, where black bears are learning the same. Time for some cross-cultural collaboration. Narrated by Kristen Bell and featuring loads of cute bears, this sure to be moving experience looks like reason enough to head to the cinema.
