Spider-Man: No Way Home is a 2021 superhero film that’s the latest installment of the Spider-Man trilogy set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It’s no surprise that Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the most anticipated titles of 2021. We’ve had the theatrical release of Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals this year, but Spider-Man is unquestionably recognized to be one of the most popular superheroes in the Marvel universe. He’s a character that many fans hold close to their heart. Directed once again by Jon Watts after previously taking on Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, Tom Holland is back as everyone’s favorite web-slinger, and this is the latest chapter of his Spider-Man trilogy set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Before we continue with this review, this will be spoiler-free in case you wish to know nothing about the film.
Taking place immediately after the events of Far From Home, Peter Parker/Spider-Man’s (Holland) life has changed for the worse. It has also heavily affected the lives of his friends and family, so he decides to ask Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for help. However, Peter keeps on interrupting his spell, while creating a multiverse that enters their world. Our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man now has to fix this mess, and we have ourselves one of the best Spider-Man movies ever made. It’s a crowd-pleasing adventure!
Holland continues to prove himself as the best live-action cinematic version of this iconic superhero. Throughout the MCU, the character has constantly evolved. The screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers have given the web-slinger lots of emotional depth, while giving the audience a better idea of what it truly means to be Spider-Man. His relationship with Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) and his friends is one of the main highlights of the entire film, because the actors have great chemistry with one another. Doctor Strange plays an important role in regards to the multiverse, which is the reason fans have been highly anticipating this installment in the first place. Everyone does a fantastic job with their performances, and they all stand out whenever they’re on screen.
No Way Home is truly an ambitious movie, especially with its fan service. Like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, this is certainly meant to be seen on the biggest screen possible with a passionate audience. This is one of the longest MCU titles, but it’s still well-paced from start to finish. The action sequences are all top-notch, and it’s remarkably entertaining whenever Spider-Man is going up against his foes. This is not really a flaw, but if you have never been a fan of any of the previous Spider-Man films, you might not understand and/or appreciate some of the easter eggs throughout. That might alienate some moviegoers, since this one admittedly feels like it’s specifically made for Spider-Man fans in mind.
Overall, Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the best comic book films of all time. Moviegoers have been looking forward to this movie for a very long time, and the wait is absolutely worth it. Fans will be immensely satisfied. This will definitely convince people to return to theaters, while also showcasing an unforgettable cinematic experience.
